Twin Pregnancy

Less than 2% of all pregnancies are twin or multiple pregnancies. With the help of an ultrasound, physicians are able to determine early in the pregnancy if a woman is pregnant with multiple babies.

Expecting mothers carrying twins are at higher risk to experience problems such as: premature labor, high-blood pressure, and more discomfort of carrying more than one baby. Therefore, more visits with the physician are necessary to monitor the health of the mother and babies. Finally, delivery of multiple babies may be problematic for some mothers. Thus, a cesarean delivery is necessary.
