Premature Labor
Delivery of the baby before the mother has completed 37 weeks of pregnancy is known as premature labor. About half of the causes are known: pre-eclampsia, diabetes, kidney infections, and excess amniotic fluid.
Though premature labor poses less of a risk to the mother than the baby, proper prenatal care is important. To reduce the risk of premature labor, pregnant women should consult with their physician to develop a sensible plan of diet, exercise, and rest.
